The Doghouse of Booya is this interesting blog written by a Muslim guy. Some of the posts are quite funny too. i've only read the posts on the front page, haven't read stuff from the archives yet.

here are some of his interesting posts:

1. Feed the World...let them know it's Chrismas time! --- about christmas and how muslims don't have it. they do have another holiday where uncles give them $20 or $30. that's pretty good i think.

the chinese don't have christmas either. but now with christmas slowly becoming a wordwide thing, lots of people celebrate it for non-religious reasons. gift-giving isn't that big a thing though. yeah, people give gifts, but there's no big rush to the stores during the three weeks prior to dec. 25, no stressing out about christmas gift lists and stuff like that. there's no tradition (yeah i know a lot of people do it in taiwan but a lot more don't.) of putting gifts under a plastic Christmas tree and stuff..

the big winter holiday here in taiwan is the chinese new year. usually elders give money to the young uns on this day (similar to what the Muslim guy wrote). they give money in red envelopes called 紅包.

2. My heart can't possibly break when it wasn't even whole to start with --- interesting post about Muslim weddings (apparently many arabic people marry their cousins. or maybe it was just in his area. after all customs vary for different places).

3. very very funny post about Lisa Loeb

"Listening to Lisa Loeb for the last hour has made me a lonesome boy. I want to move to Brooklyn, find me a smart/cute Jewish girlfriend and rent a loft in Williamsburg. On second thought, it would never work out...we're from totally different worlds--we're far too different. I have relatives in Hezbollah, she'll have relatives in the IDF...the wedding would end in rock throwing and ethnic slurs."
